Through Painted Fiters No.8
This piece is part of a whole new series of works that explores combining still life photography taken with hand painted filters in front and behind the subject. This makes the still life not a simple interpretation of the object but a dialogue between the viewer and the subject. The layers act as both a screen and lens blurring the boundary between the physical object and the subjective memory of it. Traditional still life aims for hyper-realism with these filters perception is disrupted forcing the eye from forground to background to fragments of the still life subject, 'still life', 'still seen'.
