This is a very antique gorgeous piece oozing with character. The lorgnette does have markings but are not easy to read.

The 2 sides lock together quite easily and securely. Closed it measures 11x5cm open the width increases to 9cm. Used mainly in the early 19th century instead of glasses, traditionally carried to the opera, fl

formal ball and parties etc.

The sterling silver chain is mainly curb chain but some ornate pieces have been added including a freshwater pearl. Total length of the chain is 96cm and with the lorgnette 107cm.
